Good practice example for direct action from China

Locking up your employer for a week in their own factory. Good idea if you want the proper wages paid but your boss would rather not. Chinese workers just released their US-American boss Chip Starnes – he manufactures medial gadgets and owed his staff two months’ wages – after ‘an agreement was found’.

Apparently the authorities did not step in when workers sorted things out without waiting for their corrupt and useless trade unions (some aspects of modern life are, alas, indeed global).

Mr Starnes said workers blocked all exits and, when he tried to sleep, banged on doors and windows. The experience, he said, was “humiliating” and “embarrassing”.
